Purpose of the Scholarship Funds:
v To Honor the dedication and commitment of the above named individuals for their contributions to the Welding, Inspection, Metals, Fabrication Industry, Education and the Houston Section;
v To provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a welding or welding-related career. The scholarship is available to the recipient to use as needed over his/her course of study at the facility within the United States of America.
Scholarship Structure:
Scholarships will be awarded in two categories:
Ø $1000.00 award for students pursuing a minimum four-year bachelor’s degree in a welding or welding related program at an accredited university.
Ø $500.00 award for students pursuing a certificate or two-year associate degree in a welding or welding related program at an accredited junior college, technical college or trade school.

Residency Requirements:
Scholarships are available to applicants residing within the HOUSTON SECTION of The American Welding Society Section 22 in District 18 geographic area. Eligible Counties are: Austin, Bastrop, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Caldwell, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Houston, Jackson, Lavaca, Lee, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Polk, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, Washington and Waller.

Scholarship Award Procedure:
Ø There is no minimum or maximum number of scholarship awards given in any year.
Ø Recipients will be chosen from all applications by the Houston Section Scholarship Committee. The Committee will determine which recipient will receive which named scholarship.
Ø Scholarship Awards should be paid directly to the applicant’s chosen academic institution by the Houston Section. Awards may not be paid directly to the recipient. All awards are to be used for tuition, books, supplies.
Ø Applicants may be contacted by the Section’s Board of Directors to schedule a personal interview.
