AWS Houston Section
Founded in 1937, the Houston Section of the AWS is a regional group of AWS members of the national organization which represents the welding profession and all individuals interested in the advancement of welding and its allied processes.
We are a non-profit organization.

Title: AWS D1.1 Annex S Phased Array Examinations
Abstract: As the NDT inspection industry's desire and need for Phased Array has increased through the years, so has a simple and reliable evaluation/acceptance criteria from the various inspection codes. This presentation outlines the use of Phased Array inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 Annex S and the use of a new, alternative defect rating system.
Curtis Dickinson joined the University of Ultrasonics team in December of 2012 and brought a vast amount of knowledge from the advanced UT products industry. Curtis graduated from Southeastern Community College in Milford, Nebraska in 2008 with an AAS degree in Non-Destructive Testing. He has spent the previous 4 years working as both a Technical Support Specialist and Product Support Manager for one of the industry leaders in advanced ultrasonic equipment and software manufacturing. Curtis has obtained a vast amount of working and instructional knowledge of advanced UT systems and software including automated and semi-automated systems. Curtis has worked in a large number of industries such as power generation, aerospace, and oil and gas.
